Utah Valley Regional receives donation from APX Alarm

Provo-based APX Alarm donated more than $70,000 last week to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, the largest single corporate donation in the hospital’s history.

APX Alarm UVRMCThe donation is a combination of cash and in-kind materials. The company donated $40,600 for the purchase of a Giraffe Isolette that will be used in the hospital’s NICU. APX employees also assembled more than 1,000 “Smile” kits that will be given to mothers in pre-term labor, siblings of patients in the NICU and young children and toddlers on the Pediatrics unit. Materials for the kits cost $30,000, which brings the total APX donation to $70,600.

A Giraffe Isolette is a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that combines a radiant warmer with an isolette into one piece of equipment. It is ideal for premature infants because it allows caregivers easy access, while maintaining the ideal humidity and room temperature needed by these very small patients.

APX President Todd Pederson and other company leaders presented a check to Utah Valley Regional administrators Thursday during a short celebration in the hospital’s Rotunda. The kits were delivered by APX employees the day before.

Gena Sorensen, manager of Pediatrics, said her unit received enough kits to last an entire year. Gena and her staff began distributing the kits immediately because they couldn’t wait to see how excited their patients would be to receive one.

“In all my years of working with corporations, I’ve never worked with a president who’s been so eager to engage his employees in giving back to the community. Our gratitude goes out to Todd Pederson and his employees at APX for making this happen,” says Joe Hansen, executive director of Utah Valley Healthcare Foundation.

I really enjoyed being able to help with this great charity project. I wish i could have done more but the feeling that it gave me to help with this project was the most amazing feeling i have ever felt

Helping out with the kits we donated to IHC was really great! My husband’s little brother spent a great deal of time in Intensive Care as a baby, so I know that it can be a trial for the family to be there. It was awesome to be able to help out & give some time & love to those in need!

  3. Jenae Zitting says:

I had fun making the kits and knowing that what we were doing was for a great cause. I really enjoyed spending my time helping out and donating some of my time for the project.

This service project made me proud to be a part of such a great company. Those receiving the donation were incredibly grateful. It was touching to learn about how many lives will be impacted by this service from APX and it’s employees.

It felt great to give back to the community, especially for such a significant cause. As a father, my heart goes out to the NICU and I have huge appreciation and respect for those who work there. You can tell how much they care, as their eyes filled with gratitude. It was a pleasure to serve and a lot of fun too. Good to see everyone there, and thanks go out to the organizers, and to the hospital workers for their help (and candy).

Utah Valley Regional was so generous to invite us to come and tour their facility. So often people donate to causes and never see the result of their donation. It was a special experience to see good things come from my personal donation and especially to see that gratitude and awe from hospital employees. It brings home the message that “every penny counts.”

I really enjoyed working on this project knowing that it would brighten the day of someone who is having difficulties. It was nice to work along side others from our company, and feel the energy and spirit of giving.

What a terrific event to participate in. To see the genuine and heartfelt appreciation from hospital adminstrators, volunteers and parents is hard to describe without being there. I have worked in many roles during my professional career but I have never worked with a company that believes as strongly about “giving back” more than APX.

  9. Ashlee Chambers says:

This was an awesome experience to be a part of. I’m so proud to work for a company like APX Alarm who really cares about families and protecting them. This is just one of many examples of why APX is amazing.

I would like to thank APX on behalf of my Sister in law and my Niece Addie. Addie was diagnosed with Pnuemonia 1 week ago Today. She was originally sent to Timp Hospital in Orem and after 5 very frustrating and difficult days, the doctors transferred her over to Utah Valley to see if they could better meet her needs. Addie is still very sick, and it has only been getting worse, Today they put a chest tube into her because she is not getting any better. This whole process has been very difficult on a four year old and her mother as you can imagine. The only good part of this experience came when the nurses at Utah Valley brought her in an APX backpack full of “AWESOME” toys as she put it. She was and has been so excited about her bag of toys and it has really kept her spirits up, and made her Mom very happy. Thanks again for truly impacting others lives.
