APX Family Foundation Contributes $1,000 to Be Used For Girl Scouts “Operation Cookie Drop”

7

This past month, the APX Family Foundation made a $1,000 donation for the Girl Scouts “Operation Cookie Drop” campaign.  The program allows customers to make donations which will be used to purchase Girl Scout cookies for our military troops serving overseas.

In 2009, Operation Cookie Drop raised more donations than ever and was able to contribute almost 71,000 boxes of cookies.  Since the program started in 2005, more than 221,000 boxes of cookies have been shipped to our military troops stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other bases throughout the world.

“We fail to realize all the things we took for granted back in the states, and yes the Girl Scout cookies were one of those things,” said a soldier with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan.  “We received boxes for a company of 120 soldiers and how we fought over our favorite ones of course.  Again, thank you for all your support.”

Those wishing to make individual donations can give monetary donations to a Girl Scout or Girl Scout troop during the annual cookie sale program.  The 2010 sales will end on March 14.  Frequently asked questions can be viewed at http://www.nccoastalpines.org/home/CookiesProducts/Cookies/FAQs.aspx

I am just tickled about this contribution. Girl Scout Cookies are so typically American. It is the one thing that I would request if I were overseas. What an exceptional gift to give our American soldiers. Well done, APX Family Foundation!

I have had a few friends that have served this country in Afghanistan, and it is incredible to see the small things that can really help bring happiness to men and women who are so far away from home and safety. Operation COokie Drop is such a neat gift to our families serving in the war.

I love Samoa’s! Its perks like this that make me want to join the military. Seeing a people that are willing to give and donate something that is so trivial is truly a testament to the type of heart they have. I have seen APX donate both large and small. When people or groups are donating what they can, when they can it really makes a small difference. it doesn’t matter if cookies to a few people who have served us for so long or if its driving 30 hours in a bus to spend days in mold and mud. Desire and commitment is evident in every APX employee.

As one who has served previously in the military, as one whose father and grandfather served in and retired from the military, as one whose brother and nephew currently serve in the military, I truly appreciate this contribution. It is amazing how such a small thing as Girl Scout cookies can make such a difference to the men and women who support and die for our freedom and liberties. Knowing that people care (people you’ve never met before) makes those long days and nights in lands far away just a bit easier to get through. Couple that with a good ole’ American staple like Girl Scout cookies takes it one step further and puts a smile on a weary face. Good for you, APX Alarm! I wish other companies would follow your example and put their money where their mouth is!

I know some of these APX cookies are going to local Utah County Gaurd Troops that have been deployed. That is awesome! There is seriously nothing like getting a box of Thin Mints to remember how great America is!!! We are blessed and I love APX for sharing a little cookie love with the troops.

My brother, cousin and friends family members are in Iraq and Afganistan right now serving our country. I’m sure it’s the smallest of things, like girl scout cookies, that may brighten their day. I am thankful for all servicemen who put their lives on the line for us all. My heart and prayers are with them always :)
